Love Me Anyway?

Last year around this time, I was obsessed with the Mowgli's. I bought both their albums and shared my enthusiasm for them by posting pictures on Instagram (two of which were liked by their singer, one of which was commented on by her).
Last year around this time, this blog was still on it's prologue. Flash forward and I'm only on generation two; I finished The Janes Legacy (which recently celebrated it's third anniversary!) in roughly one and two thirds of a year, clearly I'm not making the same progress with this legacy.
I apologize for taking six months to publish five chapters, I know it's shitty and most of you have probably presumed I've gone on an infinite hiatus, I haven't though.
Life's gotten in the way recently.
By recently I mean around October of 2015.
I've always had certain personal issues, but in  October they flared up incredibly bad.
Hence me not posting anything like ever.
Hopefully you'll love me anyway, even if  I'm not doing great at the writing and publishing thing...
Speaking of loving people anyway, I recently started listening to the Mowgli's and there so lovely and peppy, I recommend ya (too casual? trying to hard?) check them out:

xx,
Jill

P.S. I published chapter five of generation two today!

Chapter Preview

Well fuck, it's December. Guess that whole try and get back on track in November plan went to hell... er... um, hi. How've you been? Long time, no see. I apologize for that.
I can explain, though. I've been sick... For a long goddamn time. I'm going to the doctor's on Tuesday and may breach the reader-writer relationship a bit by sharing too goddamn much.
Also, I've been busy... Well, I've wanted to be busy. I have shit to do, but that's been derailed.
So, uh, yeah. I feel like a shit writer currently, since I'm so out of practice, however I do have some good news! I finished writing chapter two, finally, I just need pictures, however my game's being stupid, soo yeah.
I do have a short chapter preview, though:

"Fuck." We weren't dating, we'd never discussed our lab flirtation; it was simple: someone would occasionally squeeze the others ass, someone would make a comment about how attractive the other was looking, we'd make comments about how the supply room was open or how our dorm or apartment was free from roommates, so we could finally do it, we'd make out then go back to doing our research. Occasionally she'd invite me to an art gallery displaying works done by community college students she'd tutored or was a TA for or took a class taught by one of her friends or something, occasionally I'd mention coffee or lunch, she'd say her and her friends were doing a color run and others were welcome, I'd say that I was going to a frat party and whoever could come with, though neither of us ever inquired or accepted. Possibilities lingered in the air every afternoon and we didn't both acknowledging them.

So, yeah. That's what to expect... Only with pictures.

xx,
Jill

UPDATE: I deleted a ton of new CC and in Origin I opened the launcher by pressing play with the Island Paradise EP rather than the base game and now my game doesn't just open to a black screen than crash ten minutes later; hopefully I'll get pics soon.

Ambiguitiy + Regarding My Posting Schedule

Starting in August, I have some personal things that will be pretty time consuming. I'm not sure if they will effect this legacy in any way, shape, or form, however I wanted to let everyone know that my life is about to get pretty hectic and, in case I forget to post an update or don't have time, I may be posting less frequently. Nothing's guaranteed, the personal things (sorry for the ambiguity, but there isn't much I can say about it) may only last until February, I may still post a regular amount, so, uh, yeah. Proofreading this update makes it seem pretty pointless, hopefully it isn't.

Jill

The Liebster Award

Hello, lovely peoples! I'm happy that you've decided to read my blog and I'm even happier to announce that I've been nominated for a Liebster Award, by the lovely and long time supporter of my Sims story blogging endeavors, parabee27, who writes The Vulpasiah Legacy.

Now, if you're anything like me, you've been browsing Sims story blogs and you keep seeing posts entitled 'Liebster Award' and you have absolutely no idea what it is. After reading several of these posts and doing some research, er, uh, ehem Googling, I've discovered that 'Liebster' is a German word (ah, yes the German language, the language I have been meaning to learn to appease the maternal Hey-We're-German-We-Live-In-Germany-AND-We're-Bilingual side of my family, but haven't because procrastination) that means favorite, love, pleasant; the award is for blogger's favorite blogs who have under a certain number of followers.

If you're nominated, than you must:
  •  Answer the eleven questions your nominator posted for you
  • Nominate  five to eleven other bloggers for the award
  • Post eleven questions for your nominees to answer
________________

Now, without further ado, I'll do the first thing on the list and answer parabee27's lovely eleven questions:
  • On a scale of 1-10, how often do you experience writer's block? How do you get over writer's block?
Hm... It depends on the story that I'm writing for and how much I connect with the character. I'd say maybe a seven. Whenever I'm suffering from writer's block,  I have the tendency to stop blogging, not forever, just for long enough to enable me to gain a fresh perspective about the story. I'll also read lots of other people's writing, either published novels or Simmy blogs, which I have an equal love for, in order to gain inspiration. If my writer's block persists for too long, I'll start a side project to keep my writing "skills" from deteriorating too much (hence the numerous failed spin-off story blogs I've created)or I'll force myself to sit down at the computer and write a stream of consciousness thing.
  • Can you live without Custom Content (CC)?
2013 me, who had no idea how to install .packages would have declared that I definitely could have, 2015 me, on the other hand, probably couldn't since I've developed a love for downloading and using CC. A few months ago I was having a problem where my CC wasn't showing up in game and I was insanely frustrated and couldn't play the game until the problem was resolved.
  • On a scale of 1-10, how annoying is it for you to re-install The Sims 3 and all the custom content you used before onto a new computer?
(If this has never happened to you, feel free to type something saying that it has never happened and move on.)
It's insanely frustrating to me, I'd say an eight in attempt to keep myself from looking impatient and easily agitated, though when I'm actually experiencing it I'd say a ten. I've had tons of tech problems throughout my legacy blogging days and despise having to deal with digital downloads, since they take forever to download for me.
  • Again, on a scale of 1-10, how often does your game crash? What do you after it crashes?
Since I switched computers, I've been lucky; the game's rarely crashed, so probably a two. When I had my iMac and all the EPs and lots of CC, probably an eight and when I had my laptop probably a ten.
  • Do you listen to music or anything while you play, take pictures or write?
When I play the game and take pictures I listen to iTunes Radio or music on YouTube. When I'm writing I have difficulty when there's talking or the sounds of television in the background, since I'm easily distracted I'll either go and join the conversation or go and watch the TV show, so I don't listen to anything.
  • Where do you play Sims? Example: my bedroom, office, etc.
I live in a relatively small space, so I play on my PC that's on my desk that's technically in my dining room/kitchen/living room/office
  • Is there a certain time in the day or week when you feel more focused to write?
I feel inspired at the worst times, usually in the middle of the day when I'm busy and won't return home for another four hours or so or in the middle of the night/pre-sunrise morning. As mentioned above, I have difficulty writing when there's noise, so I like writing in the middle of the night/pre-sunrise morning, however I can't sleep in late when I do write at 2 a.m. and I do terrible work when I'm sleep deprived and hyped up on coffee, so I don't really write when I'm the most inspired.
  • How long does it take you to write a good quality/satisfying chapter?
I can write a chapter in a few hours when I'm increadibly inspired, usually it takes me a few days, however some chapters have taken me weeks. I cannot stand to re-read what I write, because I tend to be a perfectionist, so if I read it and end up seeing one misspelling or I end up cringing I'll want to delete the entire chapter and start from the beginning, than I'll read what I wrote, end up deleting it; the cycle will continue infinitely, resulting in me never publishing anything, so I guess the amount of time it takes me to write a satisfying chapter is the amount of time it takes me to write a chapter.
  • Are any of your real-life friends or acquaintances sims legacy/story/isbi/challenge writers?
Tragically, no. Though, considering that none of my friends play the Sims or know about this blog, it isn't surprising.
  • Do you ever base a chapter out of inspiration from a drama/movie/song etc?
I do, though I cannot think of any specific examples right now.
  • If you could do whatever you want (date, marry, work with, etc.) any sim you want from any legacy, story, or challenge (even your own), who would you choose?
I don't know, this is such a good question! There are several sims that I want to know in real life, just so I can scream and or slap them for being terrible towards another sim in that story, haha... Hm... Kiss, marry, kill- Wait, wrong thing, never mind. Honestly, I don't know, my deliberations could take months, so I'm just going to say that there are too many wonderful or horrible sims written by talented people for me to pick just one.
________________

Now, onto the second step, my nominees. Since this is my second nomination (I'm insanely grateful for TWO nominations, let alone one), I'm going to leave my nominations mostly the same from my other Liebster Award post- lovesstorms who writes The Ramsey Wishacy, a Sims 3 legacy story, and There Goes the Neighborhood, a Sims 4 commentary story, which I highly suggest reading if you haven't had a chance to yet, who nominated me- on The Janes Legacy, though I am going to change two nominations.

  • Doors by Hannah (hellohannah2). I binge read this story over Spring break last year and have since fallen in love with all of her characters, as well as her writing style.
  • L'amour Vrai by LateKnightSimmer. I love her stories, she has a great style of writing, and I loved Disney princesses as a child, so this story is practically perfect. It's a retelling of various fairytale, currently she's writing the Cinderella inspired portion and it provides a bit of childhood nostalgia for me, yet it also puts an interesting spin on things.
  • The Ramsey WIshacy by lovesstorms. (I know she nominated me, but this truly is unbiased, because I love this legacy so much and I was going to nominate her on The Janes Legacy, but I didn't, because she was the one who nominated me, so yeah.) I love this legacy so insanely much, you should go read it, in case you didn't decide to read it when I told you to earlier.
  • The Rose Legacy by newoangel. An amusing, amazing, engaging legacy with some rather lovely looking sims.
  • Chasing Rainbows by Arrowleaf. There's so much love that I have for this legacy, I discovered her stories by reading the first few chapters of her one hundred baby challenge, than I began reading that legacy. It's humorous and heart breaking and there's just so much love for it.
  • I was going to nominate the Serillion Legacy, because I loved it so insanely much, I binge read it, than I forgot to book mark it, spent awhile attempting to track it down, than added it to my favorite stories to ensure I wouldn't lose it again. Tragically, when I visited the blog, the author's apparently deleted it.
________________

This is the final step, where I create questions for my nominees. These are different questions from my last post, however if I nominated you on that post, please, please, please know that I'm not expecting you to answer both sets of questions, please, feel free to pick one set over the other, provided that you would like to answer them, also I know some of you've had other nominations, so don't feel pressured to answer these questions.
  1. Which character in your story do you identify most with?
  2. Do you map out how you want the story to go or do you do things based off of the sims' wishes/reactions or do you do a bit of both?
  3. What do you like to do when you're not playing the Sims or writing for your story?
  4. If you could live in any of the Sims 3 EA worlds (base game, EP, store), which one would it be. Why?
  5. Do you have a method for naming chapters? (This may seem like an odd question, but I tend to over think the process. I'll either pick something that's too descriptive, too long, or too short.)
  6. Do you play any other games in the Sims franchise?
  7. Do your friends/family in real life know that you have a blog dedicated to your sims story?
  8. Are there any songs/artists/genres that you're currently enjoying listening to?
  9. What's the most frustrating thing you've dealt with when it comes to blogging your sims story?
  10. Do you watch Sim Youtube channels?
  11. Are there any challenges (legacy, 100 baby, etc.) that you haven't done that you want to?

Does Cursing Offend You?

In real life I curse rather frequently around friends (I refrain when in front of coworkers or my parents) and  use f**k more than I should (it happens to be my favorite swear word, I don't care much for sh** or a** but use b**ch, d**n, p*ss, and hell a godd**n lot) so I was wondering what your, the reader's, opinion of reading swear/curse/cuss/whatever words was. I sensored them just in case anyone was sensitive about that topic.

I'm not going to replace every adjective with f**k (and I will never, never use the N or C word regardless of whether I'm on this blog or IRL!) if you guys are cool with cursing, I just want to make sure I know if anyone would get offended if I did, because, honestly, I'm getting tired of using fudge or having Lavender, who curses like a sailor, have to "mutter words I could never use infront of the kindergarteners underneath my breath".

Jill

The Janes Legacy's Last Chapter

I've finally finished it.
Can you believe it?
I cannot.
I feel sad and just, all the feels. All of them.
I wrote this nice, sentimental post over on that blog that I'll publish later.
I also haven't published the last chapter yet.
Why?
One: I want to read it tomorrow and make sure I still like it.
Two: I'm one of those people who dread ending things and want to stretch it out as long as possible. Hence me only publishing on TJL chapter in March. (I apologize for that).

xx,
Jill

Music In Chapters

I love it when people use music in their legacies; I've been meaning too, yet I am worried the song won't properly match my writing style or I simply forget. There are a few songs that I am rather fond of and am planning to use, eventually; be prepared to see them in future generations (no, I will *not* be cramming them all into Lav's generation, don't worry).

Jimmy Eat World: Sweetness (cover)

Walk the Moon: Shut Up and Dance With Me

Halestorm: Amen

Ingrid Michelson: The Way I Am

Shelia She Loves You: Don't Give Us Poets, Give Us Bread

I'm not planning on using this in a chapter, I just enjoyed it

We the Kings: Sad Song

Chloe Howl: Disappointed

Fitz & the Tantrums: The Walker

New Politics: Harlem

Bleachers: Rollercoaster

And that Paul Simon song.
And this one, that one, hey, this one, too, and maybe this one and cool, this exists.
And that German one.
And that one from the movie that my parent's liked.
Oh and a cheesy T-Swift song THAT YOU CAN NOT FIND ON YOUTUBE, DAMMIT, but at least it has an amazing cover and oh, yeah, how about some Birdy?
Annnnnnd what about Tessa Violet?
Snow Patrol, anyone?
Hell.
This is just turning into songs I enjoy.
And took me like an hour.
I was actually going to write a chapter, not just a post about songs I might use in chapters.
Oh well.

That was an insane amount of music, right? Sooooooo, what do you think? I'm presuming that you watched a few videos and/or clicked on a few links in the above paragraph (I'm not sure, with this template and everything, if you can see what are and are not links, so...). Have a favorite? I know that there are a lot 'love' songs; when I listen to them, I think of so many cute sub-plots for each generation (I have a few planned out... in an excel document... I *might* be a nerd who overly-enjoys writing and planning things out).

P.S. Feeling adventerous? Type 'Barenaked Ladies band' into google, press search, and pray to whatever deity you do or do not believe in that actual bare naked ladies do not show up.

♢ ♢ ♢ + #TFIOSreference

Just for future reference, ♢ ♢ ♢ means page break/transition in time/the point of view changed. So if I use ♢ ♢ ♢ (three bold diamonds) the characters could stay in the same time, i.e. Bob is telling how he and Alice are eating lunch and I use ♢ ♢ ♢ and go from his POV to Alice's or I use the ♢ ♢ ♢ and go from lunch to their wedding or use ♢ ♢ ♢ and go from their wedding, narrated in Bob's POV, to their divorce eight years later that was caused by financial trouble and the death of Wally McWoof, their Saint Bernard, that's also in Alice's POV. Okay? Okay.

xx,
Jill

P.S. If you're bored, try to guess which words were referring to TFIOS... And what TFIOS is... Also, it's 12:08 am, so I'm unsure as to whether or not this counts as a sleepless ramble or not, so I won't label/tag it as one... It might be one.

Thanks EA + The Next Chapter

I'm almost done with the next chapter, all my store content spontaneously uninstalled and I have no idea why. None of my CC was affected, yet I still couldn't finish getting pics because I have to fix the home since I use a ton of store decor... Thanks EA. I'm simply blaming my issues on them because A) It's easier and B) only their content was randomly uninstalled. The next chapter will hopefully be finished tomorrow; I've got 256+ items I'm working on reinstalling.

xx,
Jill

P.S. If you couldn't read Read this Letter When You I've re-fixed the link so it *should* work.

music.

does anyone else get insanely jealous of people then feel immensely guilty over it? blah. I've noticed the more chatty posts I do the lower my daily stats get which sends my neurotic anxiety into red alert... My personality can be a bit, ehem, off putting, annnnnnnnd this wasn't what the post was going to be about.

music.

it exists.

right now I'm obssessed with the Mowgli's (note: sorry for the spastic capitalization, I'm on my phone). I'm good, is well, good... Summery and California sunshine poppy.

I've ate so much junk food because I've had an unplanned week off due to bad weather

My bikini so isn't going to fit...

Crud. I'm off topic.

Weather...

No music... This post was about music. I get off track easily... *shrugs* I'd be surprised if that hasn't seeped into my writing a bit...

anyways.

I despise that word. anyways. I'm working on generation ones prologue/first chapter. Wait, no, music!

Another man is alright, it's free on iTunes (note: I'd link, but on my mobile as I said earlier) this week, until Tuesday.

I should do productiveness... Stop being chatty, I believe it drags my stats down...

Ah, well...

Goodbye?

Jill

Names + The Alphabet

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ.

Those are the letters in the alphabet, or at least the Roman (?) one, in case you've forgotten. I'm not having a name theme or scheme for this legacy, such as going by the alphabet, however I don't want to use any names that were used for the heirs and spares in my other legacy. A few potential name that I like are:

Zoe, Fiona, Bria, Telsa, Marcus, Peter, Catalyst, Nova, Chernobyl, Constantine, Lavender, Alexandria, Regina, Elliot, Veronica, Ella, Olive, Cordelia, Emma, Laurie, Quill, Evangeline, Inga, Beatrice, Sophia, Harrison, Richardson, Travis, Trey, Stephen, Jon, Colbie, Jacob, Leonardo, Cynthia, Jackson.

Alphabetized, the list looks like this:

Alexandria, Beatrice, Bria, Catalyst, Chernobyl, Colbie, Constantine, Cordelia, Cynthia, Ella, Elliot, Emma, Evangeline, Fiona, Harrison, Inga, Jackson, Jacob, Jon, Laurie, Lavender, Leonardo, Marcus, Nova, Olive, Peter, Quill, Regina, Richardson, Sophia, Stephen, Telsa, Travis, Trey, Veronica, Zoe.

Any favorites?

xx,
Jill

Shopping + CC + Other Musings

I am unsure of whether or not I should keep rambling on my legacy blog, but nevertheless, I will continue to... At least while the "blizzard" is occurring and the whole state's in a goddamn state of emergency. When I said g-damn, I didn't mean YOUR g, I meant that other religion's g, so don't be offended.
I enjoying shopping, to a certain extent.
If the store's crowded, I dislike it.
If the store's pricey, I dislike it.
If the employees talk to me I become panic-y and anxious, I dislike that.
I enjoy downloading lots of CC, which makes sense. The website won't be crowded, the CC is free, and there aren't any employees who (or is it whom?) I may have to interact with. I don't have a top of the line computer that can handle tons of CC, tragically, which means I'm left downloading three items, deleting three items, to try and keep my game as lag free as possible.
I'm not sure where precisely I'm going with this, I just know that it is keeping me from working on my manuscript... Ah, procrastination. I probably should get back to "work" now. I put the quotation marks around work because I have yet to publish anything or find an agent or do anything that might mean I get to receive a paycheck.
   So...
   Hmm...
   Uhh...
Here's a photograph that will be prominent, perhaps, in an upcoming chapter. I haven't released anything, mostly because I have no idea how to get the story going in the direction I want it to go to, I just know that it needs to leas to this:
Amazing, right? I'm going to get back to work now, with only my Mowgli's, Walk the Moon, and Misterwive's music to keep me company.

xx,
Jill
